Director Peyton Reed On ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Following ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Ant-Man and the Wasp Marvel Studios MCU Avengers We’re only a short way from the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Ant-Man And The Wasp hits theaters next weekend. While the film will primarily take place before the events of Avengers: Infinity War, there’s definitely going to be many questions the audience will have in regards to how the films connect to one another.

At the press junket for Ant-Man And The Wasp, I spoke with director Peyton Reed about these connections and whether or not he felt any pressure being the first film to follow Avengers: Infinity War.

“I think it’s become an Ant-Man tradition. Because the first Ant-Man followed Age Of Ultron and now we’re following Infinity War. I personally think it’s kind of our sweet spot because we’re so different tonally from that movie and the aspirations of the movie are different. It’s a much more intimate movie by design. It takes place in this corner where Hank, Hope, and Scott are operating separately from the larger Avengers issues and I like that. It allows us to tell more of a contained story. And if you’ve seen the movie, it’s only revealed soft of later on how it fits into the larger timeline of what’s happening in Infinity War and that was by design. We really liked that.”

While you’ll have to wait and see how it all fits together, Ant-Man And The Wasp is definitely a nice breather before we see how things wrap up in next year’s currently untitled fourth Avengers film.
