JoBlo sat down with Antoine Fuqua to discuss The Equalizer 2 when he revealed that Sony approached him to potentially direct a movie based on Spider-Man villain Morbius, the Living Vampire.
We previously reported that the Morbius film is being written by Power Rangers writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Fuqua revealed the news at CinemaCon, suggesting that Sony is actively shopping around the character to directors:
“As a kid I grew up with comic books. They talked to me about BLACK PANTHER years ago, way back in the day. There’s some reason they came up and they talked to me about at Sony, a Marvel character, Morbius [The Living Vampire]…that kinda came up. I don’t know, I have a thirteen-year-old son so I’m watching more of that again and it’s exciting to do that. I’d love to create a new one. Y’know, something that’s closer to what I get excited about.”
In the comics, Morbius does not possess all of the abilities of an actual vampire and is therefore not subject to same limitations or weaknesses. Although his transformation granted him the ability to fly, superhuman strength, speed, and healing abilities, he also has a strong aversion to light and must consume blood in order to survive. Unlike traditional vampires, his victims do not necessarily transform into vampires themselves and are instead severely injured if not killed.

Every Spider-Man Movie Suit, Ranked From Worst To Best
There is no doubt Spider-Man is one of the premier licenses in film today. The original film trilogy helmed by Sam Raimi and starring Toby Maguire was, in its day, the best superhero series around. Despite the mixed feelings over the last film, Raimi’s Spider-Man series is a beloved franchise that many people revisit even today. Then came The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield which, unfortunately, was not met with the same level of love, particularly the second film in the series. Then came Tom Holland and the Marvel Studios version of Spider-Man seems to be the best one so far.
Each of these films brought us a different Spidey suit and many were fantastic and some not so much. Spider-Man’s suit is perhaps one of the biggest factors into fans appreciation for the character. There have been various suits, dating back to the original Spider-Man TV series, but here in this list were going to focus on the suits specifically from the films.
