The stories of Unbreakable and Split will conclude in the thrilling sequel titled Glass with Anya Taylor Joy returning as Casey Cooke. However, the much-anticipated sequel won’t be Joy’s only foray into the superhero genre as the young actress will also be joining the X-Men film series in director Josh Boone’s New Mutants. In a red carpet interview with HeyUGuys, Anya Taylor Joy discussed the start of production on Glass and teased what fans can expect from New Mutants.
With filming on Glass only having just begun, Anya Taylor Joy commented on the atmosphere on set:
“It’s all going so well and everyone’s so lovely and so excited to be doing this. I think we all are very aware that we’re making something really special and Night’s just… he’s done such an incredible job with the script that we’re all coming in and really elevating our performances every single day. It’s just really fun.”
New Mutants is expected to be a more personal story with more horror elements than previous X-Men films. However, Anya Taylor Joy assured fans of the franchise that he will not be disappointed by the film:
“I think the nicest thing about it is that Josh Boone, our director, he’s just such a fan of the comics and he really loves them so much that he’s really interested in just making sure that we do the comics justice for the people that love the characters. You know, we all feel so lucky to be such incredibly loved characters. So, whilst it’s definitely a departure from the X-Men movies, the fans won’t be disapointed. We definitely kept all the important bits in there.”

8 X-Men Characters Who Deserve Their Own Movie
So it’s probably safe to assume everyone here has seen Logan? Well, based on how well it did in the box-office I think 20th Century Fox is taking notes. Now that they have both Deadpool and Logan under their belts, I’m sure they will be bringing more X-Men characters to the big screen as soon as possible.
There are so many great X-Men arcs to choose from, but I think focusing on personal stories and fewer characters is a way to ensure the movie connects with an audience. Mutants were originally composed as a metaphor for the Civil Rights movement, and that issue is still very much so alive in our society. I’m not saying every movie needs to be political, but they all have the potential to be about so much more than destruction and boss battles. Fox focuses on smaller, personal stories that show mutants in a different light. Sure they can kick ass, but let’s make sure they always feel like real people, as Logan did.
