Armie Hammer Squashes Green Lantern ‘Justice League’ Rumors

Armie Hammer Green Lantern Justice LeagueArmie Hammer has shut down the possibility of him appearing as Green Lantern in the upcoming superhero epic Justice League.

Hammer’s name has been floated around the internet by fans, suggesting the actor as a possible contender for the role of Hal Jordan but Hammer has previously confirmed that he’s only ever heard the rumors of him playing the character on social media and that Warner Bros. has not been in talks with him for the role, leaving little hope he could actually take on the role.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hammer was asked about Justice League rumors when he revealed he has still not spoken to the studio:

“No…no one’s called me. No one’s called me. No, nothing.”

You can check it out in the video below.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Julian Lewis Jones, and Willem Dafoe are also set to appear. Here’s the official synopsis:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017.

7 Green Lantern Stories We’d Love To See Adapted For The Big Screen

Previous1 of 8

Green Lantern CorpsThere were no major Green Lantern characters in Justice League, but the hero is eventually set to hit the big screen again in 2020 with Green Lantern Corps. The real mystery is what kind of Lantern stories will the movie have and who will wield a ring? The only thing I know is it’s not a good idea to wait for Ryan “Deadpool” Reynolds to mutter the Green Lantern oath on the big screen anytime soon.

There are so many stories and unique Green Lanterns the movie could draw from, so at the end of the day I hope the material is treated with the respect it deserves.  It took some hard work, but I whittled my favorite stories down to this list of seven easily adaptable arc that show off some of the action and emotion Green Lantern has to offer. Don’t expect to recommend any simple origin stories here, though — man-oh-man am I tired of seeing those.

John Stewart can’t get a page by himself…Yet he is the most popular of the Green Lanterns…I get it, but i truly do not get it. Clearly Hal has had an entire movie, so we know he exist, and for Steppenwolf to say No Lanterns, Hal Jordan exist we know that. John Stewart for the Justice League movie is a no brainer, and he should have a big coming out in this movie. We know Hal is a lock for the Flash movie…Plus DC is doing all it can to ruin John Stewart, you shelf him for almost 15 years by the time we get the 2020 movie. You tried to kill him off, then you try to say he is the Leader of the Lantern corp, anyway possible to just X him out of the Corps. Even going as far as adding Cyborg in as the obvious face. Stewart makes the most sense here with Hal coming in late to congratulate John. And to keep Stewart under wraps but highly publicize the other members is a joke…Tyrese Gibson as John Stewart is so easy to confirm for JL1…But each and every day we get the same old force fed face, Hal Jordan is everything Green Lantern, and I do not like the idea that everything is locked up in one guy, that was the downfall of the Dawn of Justice. The rise of Wonder Woman is she shared the spotlight with Steve Trevor…

Sure Stewart is popular, but Hal is more popular, that is why Hal has carried the Lantern books for so long. If Stewart sold better than Hal, he would be the main Lantern.

The Justice League series was watched by more people than the number of comic book sells. Plus, the movie tanked as people asked why is Green Lantern white…I grew up loving Hal Jordan, because I loved the Green Lantern, but force feeding him to people is not the way to sell him. John has passed him. The right way to sell Hal is put John out, and then have him engage in a difficult moment and have Hal arrive on the scene…But DC refuses to go that route and it is going to cause people to always find faults with Hal Jordan, because he is Movie made, basically he has to do his time, you can’t allow John Stewart to do the heavy lifting he did from 2001-2006 making the Green Lanterns popular and then try first to kill him off, then write him out. The whole John Stewart is the leader of the Green Lanterns on Oa is just a way to make every story in sector 2814 about Hal Jordan, silence John Stewart and hope every forgets who he is. We’ve had Hal, the macho risky fly by the seat of my pants guy sold years ago, now a new mental has been ushered in, one of diplomacy, let’s try to talk this thing out, but if you force my hand I will use overwhelming force. I like Hal don’t get me wrong, I think force feeding him is going to end bad for Hal Jordan, the Green Lanterns, DC, and the WB…Just as I called Dawn of Justice…

It sure does sound like he is faking, almost like he wanna scream “JUST WAIT AND SEE” and then shows up in the final scene of JL.

    • Yeah, what I learned from this interview is that Armie Hammer is a terrible liar 😛
