‘Arrow’ EP On Black Siren’s Return & Clash Between Al Ghul Sisters

ArrowArrow is finally returning tonight from its final hiatus of the season as the war between the Green Arrow and Prometheus continues. In a new interview with Comic Book Resources, executive producer/show-runner Wendy Mericle spoke about what’s coming up in these five remaining episodes and more.

Katrina Law will be returning to the show as Nyssa Al Ghul who will be clashing with her half-sister Talia Al Ghul (Lexa Doig) which will be the first time in live-action where the sisters have shared the screen together. Mericle spoke about the sibling rivalry between the two Al Ghul women as she teases that we will learn more about their background when the two sisters are reunited.

“It’s rooted, as always with siblings, in the parents. The parents always mess it up for the kids! [laughs] And in this case, it definitely goes back to Ra’s al Ghul and how he treated them. We know a lot about his fight with Nyssa and what that was about, but what we don’t know is that he simply had a very similar attitude towards his older daughter as well. When Talia left and Nyssa was stuck basically in a giant castle with Ra’s, it did not sit well with her.”

It was announced a while back that Katie Cassidy would be returning to the show as Laurel Lance’s Earth-2 doppleganger, the Black Siren, in the last two episodes of Season 5. Then she will be re-joining the show as a series regular for Season 6. When asked about what the show-runner is most excited to see for Siren’s expanded role on the show, Mericle talked about how this Laurel emotionally affect the people around her that loved the Earth-1 version of Laurel.

“What I love the most about Black Siren is seeing Katie Cassidy play a badass. [laughs] I mean, she was a badass before as Black Canary, but playing this other role with this darkness to it… it’s just a very interesting color for her to play, as she did Laurel, which she did an amazing job. She brings so much to this role, and it’s really seeing Katie really nail the ins and outs of this character. I think the other interesting thing about it and my favorite part is the impact that it has emotionally on the people who knew Laurel before she was unfortunately killed in Season 4. What does it mean to see this person who looks exactly like this person you loved and have them come back and be evil? It raises all kinds of questions for the people who knew her best, and that part is just absolutely rich character territory that we can play with and we’re really excited about doing that going forward.”

“Dangerous Liaisons” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)

THE SEARCH FOR CHASE INTENSIFIES — Oliver (Stephen Amell), Team Arrow, ARGUS and the SCPD kick off a citywide manhunt for Adrian Chase (Josh Segurra). Helix tells Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) they have a way to find Chase but they will need something big, and illegal, from her in return. Joel Novoa directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Elizabeth Kim (#519).  Original airdate 4/26/2017.”
