As Arrow season 6 kicks off, Team Arrow’s already got a new Black Canary in their ranks in the form of Dinah Drake, played by Juliana Harkavy. But as well as a new friend following in Laurel Lance’s footsteps, they are faced with the return of Laurel’s Earth Two doppelganger, the villainous Black Siren. With a rivalry brewing between these two banshee-like metas and Dinah finding her footing on Team Arrow, Harkavy has been talking about what we can expect to see from her Black Canary.
Speaking to Variety, Harkavy discussed the relationship between Black Canary and Black Siren:
“[The rivalry] definitely doesn’t die down. There is a lot of bad blood between Siren and Canary. It’s fun to watch those fights – they’re very charged because of the history of where they came from and what they’ve been through. People who like those fights can definitely come to expect more of them, and they’ll get bigger and better.”
Of course, the third player in the Black Canary/Black Siren dynamic is Paul Blackthorne’s Quentin Lance. Talking about the bond he and Dinah have formed over their time on Lian Yu, Harkavy said:
“Their closeness does come from their time on Lian Yu. They were together on the island, and together they kept the secret of Lance shooting Black Siren from everybody, and because of that they developed a closer friendship.”
Harkavy also mentioned this season’s crossover and her excitement to meet a certain scarlet speedster:
“I definitely wanted to interact with The Flash. There is something about The Flash personally that I’m really drawn to as a character. I also think that his energy is so different from Dinah’s so I thought that would be a cool and funny combination. He’s so low-key and she’s so intense.”
The two are sure to make for quite the contrast.

7 Green Lantern Stories We’d Love To See Adapted For The Big Screen
There were no major Green Lantern characters in Justice League, but the hero is eventually set to hit the big screen again in 2020 with Green Lantern Corps. The real mystery is what kind of Lantern stories will the movie have and who will wield a ring? The only thing I know is it’s not a good idea to wait for Ryan “Deadpool” Reynolds to mutter the Green Lantern oath on the big screen anytime soon.
There are so many stories and unique Green Lanterns the movie could draw from, so at the end of the day I hope the material is treated with the respect it deserves. It took some hard work, but I whittled my favorite stories down to this list of seven easily adaptable arc that show off some of the action and emotion Green Lantern has to offer. Don’t expect to recommend any simple origin stories here, though — man-oh-man am I tired of seeing those.
