It’s been a while since we last heard about Justin Kurzel’s film adaptation of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, but 20th Century Fox (via The Playlist) has just released a new batch of photos from the upcoming movie. The majority of the photos feature Michael Fassbender as Aguilar de Nerha, but there’s also one that gives us another look at his modern day counterpart alongside Marion Cotillard’s mysterious Sophia Rikkin.

The film’s plot has been shrouded in secrecy, but then again, we’ve only seen one trailer so far. The second trailer should arrive within the next two months (or maybe even at the end of this month if it’s attached to Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children), but until then, expect plenty of other Assassin’s Creed related goodies soon.

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Michael K. Williams, Ariane Labed, Matias Varela and Denis Menochet, Assassin’s Creed opens in theaters on December 21, 2016. Are you excited?
