Ava DuVernay teased the start of working with co-writer Tom King on the New Gods film.
In May, New Gods director Ava DuVernay confirmed she would co-write the script with Eisner Award-winning comic book writer Tom King. At San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Tom King revealed he would begin working on the New Gods script with Ava DuVernay on the Monday following the convention.
On Friday, Tom King earned another Eisner Award for his work on Batman, Mister Miracle, Heroes in Crisis, and Swamp Thing Winter Special. News of his achievement prompted Ava DuVernay to congratulate Tom King on her official Twitter account on Sunday while commenting on how she will see him the following day to begin work on New Gods.

Directed by Ava DuVernay, Warner Bros. and DC’s New Gods film will be based on characters created and designed by Jack Kirby. Details on the film are currently unknown, though comic book incarnations of the New Gods have included characters such as Granny Goodness, Desaad, Godfrey, and the powerful villain Darkseid.
New Gods is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, and Nightwing.
