With production wrapped on Avengers: Infinity War and shooting currently taking place on the fourth installment in the Avengers series, there has been much fan speculation surrounding the official title of Avengers 4. Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, had previously said the film’s title is a spoiler but it now sounds as though it may not be as big a reveal as some fans had been hoping.
Speaking recently to Screen Rant, Feige had this to say when asked if the title should still be considered a spoiler:
“Yeah, I think some of that has been blown out of proportion. We do want the focus to be on Infinity War for now.”
It sounds like the rampant speculation over the title of Avengers 4 was not something Feige had expected. What does this mean? Perhaps Feige’s original comments have been taken out of context and misinterpreted by fans. When asked in an interview back in April if the title would be a spoiler, Feige simply replied: “Yeah, for sure”. Maybe Feige only meant that he would consider it a spoiler to reveal the title so early on, not that it gave away any specific plot details.
Alternatively, the title may well be a spoiler for the events of Infinity War. It should be noted Feige did not deny this, only said it had been “blown out of proportion”. Perhaps this means that, while the title may give an indication of where Infinity War leaves Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, it is not a title that will come as a total surprise to fans (for example, if it were to hint at Thanos completing the Infinity Gauntlet). Or maybe Feige simply feels our attention should be on Infinity War for the time being, rather than getting too far ahead of ourselves in our Avengers anticipation.
