A new theory suggests the latest Avengers: Endgame preview was edited to hide the fact that Tony Stark is talking to a past version of Captain America.
Before Infinity War was released in theaters, set photos for the direct sequel showed Captain America wearing his original Avengers costume in a location that closely resembled New York as it was being invaded by Loki and the Chitauri. The photos also featured Tony Stark with a slightly different look than he had in Avengers and heroes Captain America had not yet met at that point wearing mysterious wrist devices, prompting fans to theorize time travel would play a key role in the then-untitled Avengers 4.
Now, fans are suspecting the scene in which Tony Stark and Captain America reaffirm their trust in each other (seen in the latest Avengers: Endgame preview) has been edited to hide the fact that Stark is conversing with Steve Rogers from the past. While the footage shows Captain America in an updated outfit, fans theorize the costume has been edited and the final cut of the film will show the same scene with Steve Rogers in his suit from the first Avengers movie. In fact, digital artist jscomicart created an image that imagined what the scene would look like with Steve Rogers in the older Captain America suit.
