Agent Carter may have been cancelled and Captain America: Civil War literally killed the character off, but that hasn’t stopped online speculation as to whether or not Hayley Atwell might actually return to play the character in Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4.
The recent speculation comes after a casting call for a Georgia-shot film under the title Mary Lou, the working title for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, asked for female engineers in a very small scene.
Check out the post below:
Now the casting call post doesn’t have much information to go on, obviously because of NDAs, but the description does suggest an older setting, meaning that either a flashback occurs for Steve Rogers, or that the Avengers travel back in time via the Time Gem.
Other information that backs up the rumor is that Hayley Atwell has recently met with Marvel producer Louis D’Esposito and was seen wearing mo-cap dots (possible ageing alá Ant-Man), which suggests something bigger is in the works for the actress. This rampant speculation is typical for any upcoming Marvel movie, but its all so much bigger considering that the next two Avengers films are the biggest things that Marvel Studios has ever done, pulling in cast members from nearly every MCU film.
As for now, we can only wait and hope that such a fan-favourite character like Peggy Carter can make one final bow for fans, audiences and indeed the actress herself.
Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Rudd, Paul Bettany, Cobie Smulders, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Don Cheadle, Benedict Wong, Benicio Del Toro, Danai Gurira, and Terry Notary and Peter Dinklage in undisclosed roles.
