An impressive new concept design imagines Avengers star Karen Gillan as Batgirl for the DC Extended Universe.
Late last year, Avengers star Karen Gillan revealed that she would love to play Batgirl if given the opportunity. Since her statement, Avengers star Karen Gillan has received an outpour of support to assume the role of Batgirl. In addition to general fan support, artists have began envisioning Karen Gillan as Batgirl herself, essentially making faux-concept art to convince the studio that the Avengers star is the perfect fit for the role.
One of the bastions for Karen Gillan taking on the role of Batgirl is Andrea Giglio, an artist who has created an impressive concept that shows exactly what the Avengers star could look like if she joined the DCEU. You can check out the artwork of Karen Gillan as Batgirl below.
In the concept design, Avengers star Karen Gillan is rocking the purple Batgirl suit, as well as showing off her iconic red hair. One of the coolest parts of Karen Gillan potentially taking on the Batgirl role is that she wouldn’t have to change the color of her hair as it’s already red. While Karen Gillan would certainly make for a fantastic Batgirl, she’s currently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with her Guardians of the Galaxy character Nebula. Of course, stranger things have happened, and stars in the Avengers franchise have migrated over to the DCEU. That being said, Avengers star Karen Gillan is set to return to the MCU with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. In addition to being a superhero, Karen Gillan is also spearheading the Jumanji franchise with heavyweights like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart.
As for Batgirl, a solo film starring the iconic hero is currently in development at Warner Brothers, though details regarding the project are scarce right now. Warner Bros. and DC have yet to find their Batgirl but there are numerous stars that could easily play the character, including fan-favorite Karen Gillan. Hopefully, if Karen Gillan can get a break from her Avengers duties, she can join the DCEU with Batgirl. And if it works out, perhaps we’ll see Karen Gillan’s Batgirl cross paths with Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
