The Russo brothers, directors of next year’s superhero epic Avengers: Infinity War, have taken to Instagram to show they’ve been doing more than a fair share of homework on the film’s big bad, Thanos. If the rest of us wanted to know a little more about the Avengers villain, we would likely have to turn to Google as our source of information. Being directors of an Avengers movie comes with certain perks, however, and the Russos have been getting their Thanos insights straight from the horse’s mouth – that is, from Thanos creator, Jim Starlin.
The Instagram photo, which you can see below, shows the Russos hanging out with Starlin and is captioned “Hanging with THE MAN.”
Starlin is a comic artist and writer, who concocted Thanos for an arc that spanned various Marvel titles, including Iron Man, Captain Marvel and Avengers. The purple-skinned cosmic tyrant famously went on to terrorise the Marvel universe in the Infinity Gauntlet series, which Starlin wrote and which is thought to be providing the basis for next year’s Infinity War (though a comic event titled Infinity War does exist, the film seems to have more in common with the earlier Gauntlet arc).
Are you excited to see the Russos’ take on Starlin’s mad titan in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War? How do you think the cinematic Thanos will measure up to his comic book counterpart? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

5 Reasons We’re Excited For ‘Thor: Ragnarok’
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out on home media and Spider-Man: Homecoming has been playing in theaters for a while now, so it’s time to look forward to the next Marvel movies, the first being Thor: Ragnarok.
The trailer for the film is incredible. The vibe, the action, the set-design, the soundtrack, every element of the trailer screams, “This is a different kind of Thor movie.”
And that’s exactly what we need. Thor: The Dark World was the most easily forgettable Marvel sequel, only distinguishable from the original for its use of fan-favorite villain Loki. Thor: Ragnarok looks poised to switch up the formula, seeming more like a fun intergalactic romp than a brooding space epic.
Judging from the trailer and other positive buzz, there’s plenty of cause to be excited for Thor: Ragnarok. Here are the 5 reasons why. Click next to get started!
