WARNING: This post contains major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War.
For those that have witnessed the tragic events outside of Wakanda at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, some new knowledge has been revealed regarding what price the Mad Titan paid for his extremely destructive finger snap.
Infinity War’s screenwriters, Stephen McFeeley and Christopher Markus, recently revealed so many spoilers for their third Avengers sequel. One thing that came up was whether or not Thanos experienced any ill effects from his use of the Infinity Stones. These stones are very powerful and have crushed almost every villain that has attempted to wield them. Collider made sure the film’s writers shed some light on what happened to Thanos after Infinity War.
Collider: “After using the Gauntlet did Thanos pay a physical price for using all the stones at once?”
Markus: “Yes he did.”
McFeeley: “Yeah it looks like it right.”
Markus: “Now I think thats an immense amount of energy and there is a reason that other people haven’t done this because it could kill you. so the strongest guy in the universe would have to be the one to do it and I don’t think he is going to be doing much with that arm.”
McFeeley: “Its a believability thing you know we always try to ground the stuff.”
It is clear in the final moments of Avengers: Infinity War that there is some marking on the Mad Titan’s arm suggesting he may be somewhat vulnerable in the film’s sequel. The writers jokingly teased that Thanos may have gotten a new Vibranium arm like the Winter Soldiers. Whether or not the Mad Titan joins Deadpool 2’s Cable (also played by Josh Brolin) in the metal arm club is still a mystery, but despite feeling the effects of using the Gauntlet, Thanos will definitely continue to be a more than formidable opponent for whats left of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes when Avengers 4 releases next year.

10 Marvel & DC Villains Who Can Take Down Thanos
Thanos may have just taken down some of Marvel’s finest superheroes in Avengers: Infinity War, but he’s not the deadliest villain in comics. Both DC and Marvel are full of characters who are more powerful than the Mad Titan.
Admittedly, whenever Thanos is in possession of all six infinity stones he is the most powerful being in the universe, but anyone can harness that power if they successfully gather all the necessary components. If anything, Thanos is just incredibly patient and willing to wait to achieve his goals, a trait not many supervillains in DC or Marvel have. With the gauntlet, Thanos is essentially an immortal God who can snap his fingers and turn entire worlds to dust, but without it he’s just another villain who wants to rule the universe. He’s clearly a strong and terrifying guy, but if he were to face any of these villains without his Gauntlet, Thanos would be in big trouble.
