It had been previously announced that Sony had wanted to make an adaptation of their highly popular video game franchise Uncharted, and now the project has a screenwriter. Joe Carnahan has come aboard to write the latest draft for the film adaptation for the game.
Carnahan is an accomplished director, producer and screenwriter. He’s currently working on Bright, Wheelman and Bad Boys 3 and due to such is unable to helm the Uncharted adaptation unless production gets pushed back.
“In a perfect world I would love to do both, but right now, I’m only on board to write the script.”
Uncharted is similar to both Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider in tone and theme, as it follows a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake. Carnahan had the follow to say about the subject material:
“Archaeology today is in itself an antiquity, but that world has always fascinated me. Especially when you go to a museum today and wonder how a piece got there to begin with. Plus, the property itself is so popular that it was hard to turn down an opportunity to work on it.”
