‘Bad Boys’ TV Spin-Off Series Starring Gabrielle Union In Development

Bad Boys Gabrielle Union TV Spin-offDeadline reports a spin-off of the Bad Boys action film’s directed by Michael Bay is currently in the works with Gabrielle Union attached in the lead role.

The Blacklist writers-producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier will write the series which will follow Union reprising her role as Special Agent Sydney Burnett, an undercover operative with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the sister of Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett who was introduced in the franchise’s second installment, Bad Boys II.

The series has yet to find a home as it is currently being shopped to networks but is expected to land a major commitment as it has already received interest from multiple places. Bad Boys producer Jerry Bruckheimer who will serve as executive producer alongside Doug Belgrad, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed. Jerry Bruckheimer TV, 2.0 Entertainment, Primary Wave Entertainment, and Sony Pictures TV Studios will produce.

Originally, Sony Pictures was looking to continue forward the Bay Boys franchise with but both of the planned third and fourth installments were plucked from the studio’s release calendar this year. The screenplay for Bad Boys 3 is reportedly still being worked on and Will Smith still has interest in the project but there have been no further developments.
