The Bad Boys TV spin-off series has found a home with a pilot production commitment from NBC.
Gabrielle Union is set to reprise her role as Special Agent Syd Burnett, the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) who was last seen taking down a Miami drug cartel in Bad Boys 2. The series will pick up with Syd now working as an LAPD detective when her new partner, Nancy McKenna, discovers Syd’s unapologetic lifestyle may be masking a greater personal secret.
The Blacklist writers-producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier will write the series. Bad Boys producer Jerry Bruckheimer will serve as executive producer alongside Doug Belgrad, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed. Jerry Bruckheimer TV, 2.0 Entertainment, Primary Wave Entertainment, and Sony Pictures TV Studios will produce.
Whether or not the Bad Boys film franchise will continue remains unclear. The planned third and fourth installments were plucked from the Sony’s release calendar earlier this year. Bad Boys 3 is reportedly still being worked on and Will Smith still has interest in the project but there have been no further developments.
