Guys, seriously, you all need to calm down about that ridiculous fan theory that suggests Christian Bale will be returning as the real Caped Crusader in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s not happening. Just sit back and accept the Batfleck.
If you’re not familiar with the fan theory, an excited young movie-goer with absolutely way too much time on his hands suggested that Zack Snyder’s Dawn of Justice (and the DC Extended Universe as a whole) is actually connected to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Delving even further into the craziness, the theory suggests that Ben Affleck is actually Deathstroke who is just filling in for Bale’s Bruce Wayne until he returns.
Well you can officially put this theory to bed as Bale himself shot down the rumors.
That’s a clear denial and not in the “Jon Snow is dead” type of way. Bale, while grateful for the opportunity to don the cowl, was happy when his turn as Batman came to an end. The 41-year-old is an Academy Award winning actor. He’s not trying to hang from rooftops for the rest of his career.
Just in case that wasn’t quite enough for all you true believers out there, Bale added this to nail the point home:
Bale can next be seen in The Big Short which explores the real estate and financial crisis that hit the United States in the mid 2000s. That’s about as far away from Batman as he can get.
The Big Short hits theaters on Dec. 23 while Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will debut on March 25.
