‘Beauty And The Beast’: Idris Elba Auditioned To Play Gaston

Idris ElbaIdris Elba has had quite a year, with four movies out in 2017. He almost had one more, as it turns out, in a genre you might not expect.

In an interview with People, Idris Elba revealed that he had auditioned for the Beauty and the Beast live-action remake, which was released earlier this year. An avid fan of musicals, Elba really wanted to play Gaston:

“I honestly love musicals. I auditioned for Beauty and the Beast. I really did, for Gaston. I called and said, ‘Listen, I want in!’ So somewhere they have a tape of me singing.”

When asked if he resented not getting the part (Luke Evans played the role in the film) Elba said:

“No, only a little bit. No! I love you Luke, you know that.”

Elba can next be seen in Thor: Ragnarok on November 2nd. He will follow that up with an appearance in The Mountain Between Us, due out on November 6th.

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action adaptation of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

Directed by Bill Condon, the film stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Audra McDonald.

Beauty and the Beast is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD.

With that in mind, I decided to write about some of the worst scenes in what are otherwise considered good superhero movies.
