‘Birth Of A Nation’ Will Be Released Theatrically On October 7th

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Nate Parker’s Birth Of A Nation will be theatrically released by Fox Searchlight on October 7th, 2017. The film was a sensation at Sundance and won both the Jury and Audience awards. Nate Parker wrote, directed and stars in the film, which is based on the story of Nat Turner, an American-born slave who led the most successful slave rebellion in American history.

The film sparked a fierce bidding war that culminated with Searchlight and parent studio Fox paying $17.5 million for worldwide rights to the movie. Birth Of A Nation is easily one of my most anticipated films of the year and I couldn’t be more proud of Nate who gave up acting for a while to get his movie made. Nate was my personal choice for Marvel’s The Black Panther but he would also make a fine Green Lantern as John Stewart. It wouldn’t surprise me if he is one on the top contenders for the role.
