‘Black Adam’ Post-Credits Scene Reportedly Teases Character’s Role In DC Universe

The new post-credits scene was added to test screenings in June.

Justice League Dwayne Johnson Black Adam

Black Adam‘s post-credits scene will reportedly reveal more about Dwayne Johnson’s place in the DC Universe.

The future of the DC franchise is unclear at the moment following the formation of Warner Bros. Discovery. CEO David Zaslav recently teased a ten-year plan for DC and along with a “reset” that is inspired by what Kevin Feige has done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Warner Bros. also axed Batgirl with more changes expected.

Black Adam is the next project up from DC, which David Zaslav shared his confidence in along with Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash. Dwayne Johnson has been hyping up Black Adam’s inclusion in the DC Universe for some time now, and he might play a pivotal role in the franchise moving forward.

Black Adam underwent reshoots over the summer and reportedly scored the same as Batgirl in test screenings, but it sounds like the film is in a much better place now. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that a new post-credits scene was added to a June test screening that “introduces a new element to Johnson’s place in the DC Universe.”

The article also revealed that DC was planning on doing Crisis on Infinite Earths and Secret Six films prior to the merger. Despite Batgirl‘s cancelation, Blue Beetle, Penguin, Peacemaker, Joker: Folie à Deux, and HBO’s Green Lantern series are still in the works. Meanwhile, development has slowed down on Supergirl, Green Lantern Corps, Static Shock, and the Superman reboot from JJ Abrams.

Here is the synopsis for Black Adam:

“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani, the DCEU film stars Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan.

Black Adam opens in theaters on October 21, 2022. Be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more original video content.
