FOX’s ’Black Lightning’ Reportedly Starting Production In March

Black Lightning Production FilmingLast fall, it was revealed that FOX had given a pilot production commitment to the DC Comics series, Black Lightning, the story of Jefferson Pierce and how he is forced to return to the superhero gig. While it has been quiet in the news front for that project, it appears that things might be moving forward.

My Entertainment World is reporting that the show is getting ready to start production on the pilot in March. According to the site, should the report be correct, the pilot will be filming in New Orleans. If the production is indeed set to start in March, casting for Jefferson Pierce and the other characters should be announced soon.

The series comes from Being Mary Jane’s Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, as well as CW’s DC TV producer Greg Berlanti. According to earlier reports, Warner Bros. TV has been working on the project for over a year as the creative team and the studio wanted to get it right. Back at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, Berlanti confirmed that as of right now, there are no plans for Black Lightning to be connect with the Arrowverse.
