‘Black Lightning’: Tobias Whale Actor Teases Season Finale Fight

Black Lightning Tobias Whale Season Finale FightBlack Lightning will have its first season finale airing this Tuesday, and although Tobias Whale (Marvin Jones III) still believes that Black Lightning (Cress Williams) is dead, he will soon be facing off against him in an epic fight in the episode.

Marvin Jones III was recently interviewed by THR, and teased a shirtless fight scene that Tobias has in the season finale:

“I hope I wasn’t too fat! I’m a little subconscious about those kinds of scenes. But it was incredible. Throughout the course of the season, we haven’t had many scenes together. This was like our second scene together ever. But we have this intense rivalry so it was great to finally be in that scene. And it was a lot of work, we didn’t use that many stunts. It was 90 percent all us, that’s why you are able to see all those close ups of our faces.”

Jones also briefly touched upon whether or not Tobias will return for season 2:

“I don’t know. The end of the story which we’re about to air in a few days, I would hope you, the viewer, the reader, will be able to answer that question yourself. From what I’ve seen in the comics, Tobias Whale doesn’t die or go away permanently. So I’m hoping the writers follow the comics in that way. I hope I’m around and they don’t get rid of me.”

10 DC Comics Heroes That Should Appear On ‘Black Lightning’

Previous1 of 11

Black Lightning DC ComicsBlack Lightning premieres on the CW this month and fan excitement is high. Since it was announced that Black Lightning would not exist in the Arrowverse, but instead would be part of the multiverse like Supergirl, DC fans have been wondering what that means for other heroes to appear. Arrow started to introduce a larger canvas in season one with the introduction of Huntress and The Flash‘s first season introduced Firestorm so it stands to reason other DC Comics heroes might pop up in Black Lightning sooner rather than later.

This separate universe may open the door for Black Lightning to introduce lesser known DC heroes that don’t quite fit with the Justice League-level of heroes found in the Arrowverse. Black Lightning has a history of this in the comics, being a member of Batman’s the Outsiders, a group of superheroes who don’t quite fit the traditional standards of the superhero community. That should be the standard for what heroes are introduced on Black Lightning.

We compiled a list of ten DC superheroes that should appear on Black Lightning. Hit Next to get started!
