It’s only one day until the public will be allowed to see the critically praised Black Panther film and you may have someone unexpected to thank for that.
On a recent episode of Charlamagne tha God’s show The Breakfast Club, the host decided to tease Chadwick Boseman about his terrible poker face when he questioned his casting on a 2014 episode of the show. As Charlamagne said:
“You know, four years ago I had you up here and I asked you if you were playing Black Panther and you had the worst poker face known to man.”
Charlamagne is referencing their 2014 interview in which Charlamagne asked “…as a huge Marvel fan, are the rumors of you playing Black Panther true?” to which Boseman responded by saying “I don’t know nothing about that,” followed by a large smile and laugh that made many assume that he had the role. Four years later, Boseman is back on the most recent episode of The Breakfast Club and suggests that isn’t quite the case. The Black Panther star claims that he hadn’t been cast at that point.
“I didn’t know! I didn’t know at that point in time!”
Boseman went on to suggest that Charlemagne had been “prophetic” about it, as opposed to confirming the rumor.
“What I’ll do is I’ll give you credit for being prophetic about it. You are Charlemagne tha God, right?”
You can watch the interview below.
Whether we have Charlamagne to thank for nudging Boseman into the role or not, it’s safe to say that the excitement for Black Panther seems to be growing every day. If you’re excited for Black Panther then let us know in the comments below!
