SPOILERS: ‘Black Panther’ Producer Confirms This Marvel Character Really Is Dead

Black PantherWarning: The following post contains spoilers for Marvel Studios’ Black Panther!

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Black Panther producer Nate Moore confirmed that a certain Marvel character did not survive the events of the film.

Black Panther featured the return of Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaw after the character was last seen in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, while the character is one of Black Panther’s greatest adversaries in the comics, Serkis’ version of the sinister arms dealer was shot and killed by Erik Killmonger during the second act of the film.

Despite the fact that Klaw’s body is seen when Killmonger arrives in Wakanda, many fans had been holding out hope that the character might have survived somehow, especially considering he wasn’t actually seen being hit by a bullet on screen. Unfortunately for fans of the character, producer Nate Moore confirmed that Ulysses Klaw is dead and commented on the decision to kill off the fan-favorite villain.:

“[The decision] was made pretty early on because we knew ultimately that more than Ulysses Klaw, Killmonger was the main villain of the film. And he’s actually dead. He’s dead, dead. Which I think, honestly, was part of the sell for Andy in going, ‘Oh, I get to play this character that gets to sort of shine very brightly and burn out quickly. Well, that’s kind of fun.’ And we only like to tell as much story as we have for a character and I’m not sure how much other story we would have for Klaw, but we were still lucky to have Andy involved.”

“Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke,  Florence Kasumba, Sterling K. Brown, Andy Serkis and John Kan.

Black Panther is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.

Previous1 of 27

Avengers-Infinity-War-1Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is nothing short of a triumph. The way that directors Anthony and Joe Russo along with screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely managed to bring all of these larger-than-life characters from separate films together so cohesively and in such an entertaining manner is something to be praised. And given the epic scale of this project along with its massive ensemble, some characters get to have more satisfying arcs than others, but nonetheless – each character somehow gets to have their moment in the spotlight to shine.

Here are the majority of the characters from the remarkable ensemble of Avengers: Infinity War ranked from best to worst. Granted, none of these characters are put in the situation where the film reaches “bad” territory, but given the amount of characters involved, certain characters shine more than others. But even with that, this just goes to show how the Russo Brothers, Markus and McFeely knocked this out of the park. Start the list by clicking Next.
