Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is set to make its world premiere on Crunchyroll and VRV on September 26, 2017.
Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is directed by celebrated anime director Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo) and takes place three years after the events of the original Blade Runner film. Black Out 2022 also serves as a part of a series of animated short films that expand upon and bridge the gap between the original classic and the upcoming sequel.
In the new featurette, Watanabe reveals that the original Blade Runner was influential on him as an anime director. He also talks how about important it was to respect to the original film in the creation of this animated project. You can check out it out below.
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for thirty years.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto and Barkhad Abdi.
Blade Runner 2049 will be released in theaters on October 6th, 2017.
