The Hollywood Reporter writes that director Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 is tracking for a $40 Million-plus opening weekend in North America.
Based on pre-release surveys, the sequel to Ridley Scott’s acclaimed 1982 science fiction classic could surpass the $40 million mark when it opens in theaters next month. The production of Blade Runner is believed to have cost at least $100 million.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for thirty years.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto and Barkhad Abdi.
