The viral marketing for the upcoming Blade Runner 2049 continued today as Dave Bautista stars in a new featurette set one year prior to the events of the film. The short is the second of three that will be released ahead of the film, with the first one – 2036: Nexus Dawn – focusing on Jared Leto’s Niander Wallace.
The featurette is introduced by director Denis Villeneuve and centers on Bautista’s Sapper Mortan, who is revealed to be a replicant in the film. Montan is on the run and appears to be having a very difficult go of it at the time the clip is set. You can check out the short below:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for thirty years.
