‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Moved To October 2017

Alcon Entertainment has announced that the upcoming sequel to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner has been moved to October 6, 2017. This places the film in the middle of awards season, but also puts it up against another big release. A Warners Bros event film, rumoured to be the Tomb Raider film, is also slated for release on that same day.

This is definitely good news as we will get to see this highly anticipated sequel a few months earlier. This also feels like a much better release date for a movie of such calibre. The January 2018 release date was a peculiar choice and I’m personally glad the film has been moved.

The untitled ‘Blade Runner’ sequel will be directed by Dennis Villeneuve and stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Dave Bautista.

Blade Runner 2 is a WB and Alcon film, so this probably is the event film or will replace it on the calendar.

October used to be a horrible month to release films, but in recent years some of the best films of the year have been released at that time. Hopefully this will continue that trend.
