‘Bourne 5’ Casting News: Ex- Machinas Alicia Vikander Cast, Julia Stiles Returning & Viggo Mortensen Rumored

Hot off her role in Ex-Machina Alicia Vikander has been cast alongside Matt Damon in the fifth installment of the Bourne franchise. Vikander joining Damon and Greengrass doesn’t come without bad news, in order to join the cast of Bourne 5 Vikander had to drop out of the live action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed and the Tom Hanks produced Sci-Fi flick Circle.

In other Bourne casting news, Julia Stiles will be reprising her role from the original Bourne trilogy, Agent Nicky Parson. Stiles is the only actress to appear in all three original Bourne films, so bringing her back is a smart move because she was an important part of the Bourne franchise and it could be a great continuation or conclusion for her character.

The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider also had some Bourne casting info. He took to Twitter to break that Viggo Mortensen has been offered the villain role in Bourne 5.

Everyone knows how choosy Mortensen is when it comes to roles. Recently, he had to decline a role in Tarantino’s The Hateful 8 due to conflicts in the schedule. I would be very cool with Mortensen joining Bourne 5, but do I think it’s gonna happen? Not really. I’d be surprised if it does, although It’ll be a very good surprise.

What do you guys think about these Bourne 5 castings and the possibility of Mortensen playing the villain role?

Bourne 5 will hit theaters on July 29, 2016!
