Although Tom Cruise’s The Mummy didn’t prove to be the promising critical and financial groundwork in which Universal Pictures might have hoped for with their upcoming Dark Universe, a possible candidate for the role of the Bride of Frankenstein herself may resurrect the struggling film universe.
The Wrap reports that should Angelina Jolie’s interest in the role of the titular monster end up falling through, director Bill Condon already has another actress in mind should negotiations fall through and that actress is Gal Gadot.
Although production of Universal Pictures’s upcoming reimaging of the Bride of Frankenstein has been delayed with Javier Bardem still attached to play Frankenstein’s Monster and Jolie in talks to play his bride, a source reveals that the two actors have yet to lock in a deal. The insider goes on to reveal:
“Condon and the other filmmakers have been in a holding pattern waiting for Jolie to commit to the project or pass. The filmmakers have not reached out to Gadot, who like Condon, is repped by WME.”
Representatives for Bardem, Jolie and Gadot did not respond to requests for comment. A Universal Pictures representative also declined to comment.
