First is was ‘a bird and a plane,’ and then it was Batman’s non-canon cousin, Van Wayne. Now, the alter-ego of Batman himself, Bruce Wayne, has been name-dropped in the most recent promo for NBC’s upcoming DC Comics’ sitcom, Powerless.
As Emily Locke (played by Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day at Wayne Security, she expresses how she can’t believe she’s working for Bruce Wayne. Of course, she’s quickly corrected, as she’s actually working for Bruce Wayne’s cousin, Van Wayne (played by Alan Tudyk). But still, the mention of Gotham’s favorite billionaire vigilante helps further solidify the DC-inspired world this show is operating in.
You can hear the name-drop in the promo below:
“In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.”
Powerless premieres on NBC Thursday, February 2 at 8:30/7:30c.
