Captain America: Civil War will be arriving in theaters next week and fans are counting down the hours until they see Team Iron Man and Team Captain America face off but Marvel has also become known for something else throughout their movies, Stan Lee. Stan Lee continues his cameo appearances in Civil War.
In an interview with Nova 96.9, Civil War director Joe Russo explained that this wasn’t just an after thought, this cameo was very important to the movie.
The process was detailed, “and then, you know, as we work through the script, we look for a great cameo for Stan as we’re writing you know, and that’s our interaction with Stan.”
Lee’s cameo won’t be random and will serve as a plot point that contains relevance.
“I think so, you’re always looking to keep it different with him and you want to surprise the audience because they get a kick out of it, but you also want to make it relevant in some way, so he delivers a key piece of information in the movie.”
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
