Captain America: Civil War will be released on Thursday night in North America but the film is already impressing overseas with a total of $200 million at the international box office. This is one of the largest openings for a Marvel property.
While the numbers are still being finalized, Civil War opened in over 60% of the international markets. Compared to other Marvel movies Civil War is 5% behind Avengers: Age of Ultron but has already passed Iron Man 3, The Avengers and is 157% ahead of Captain America: The Winter Solider. The film has yet to debut in China or Russia.
The movie is eyeing an incredibly large opening in North America. Heroic Hollywood’s EIC spoke on his predictions on last week and you can check that out HERE.
The box office for Civil War will continue to be updated.
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
