‘Captain America: Civil War’ Smashes Trailer Record For Superhero Films

Now, while it’s going to be a while before another trailer comes close to the record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens earlier this year, Captain America: Civil War definitely stepped up to the plate last week and knocked one out the park. Marvel is reporting that the trailer smashed records and racked up an impressive 61 million views globally in its first 24 hours across all major social platforms. This is nearly twice the amount of views for both the first trailers for Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which respectively hit 34 million and 30 million views ain their first 24 hours of release. I’d say people are definitely anticipating this one. Are you? Want to add one more view to the count? Click play below and let us know whose side you’re on in the comments section.

“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
