‘Captain Phasma’ Explains Trash Compactor Escape; New Images…

When we last saw Captain Phasma, she was about to be thrown down a chute and into a trash compactor by Han, Chewie, and Finn. However, thanks to The Last Jedi trailer, we know the chrome stormtrooper will be back to cause our heroes trouble. Question is, how did the Captain of the First Order make it out of that trash compactor?

The previously announced Marvel comic miniseries, Captain Phasma, part of Lucasfilm’s Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will reveal Phasma’s escape. The four-part comic series will chronicle the First Order Captain’s breakout from Starkiller Base before its explosion and bridge the gap between the new film and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Series writer Kelly Thompson shared some details about the story and Entertainment Weekly shared her revelations:

“The Star Wars films, with so many fantastic characters, obviously can’t be a ‘Phasma story,’ and it’s especially cool that Phasma is getting explored in depth in both her forthcoming novel and comic book.

The most exciting thing to me about our miniseries is that we were given the awesome responsibility of bridging a gap between Force Awakens and Last Jedi — of answering the question of what happened to Phasma after she went into that trash chute. Anytime you get to write official Star Wars is pretty incredible, but getting to decide what that link is, for a super intriguing character in some of the most epic movies of all time, is next level!”

Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Captain Phasma is written by Thompson (HawkeyeStar Wars Annual) and illustrated by Marco Checchetto (Shattered Empire and Screaming Citadel). The first issue is expected out in September. The novel Thompson referenced, titled Phasma, was written by Delilah S. Dawson and also hits shelves in September.

Marvel Comics has also released a few pages of the first issue and you can check them out in the gallery.
