People Movies has revealed a few new additions to the voice cast of Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3. Newcomers Kerry Washington (Scandal), Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle) and Lea DeLaria (Orange is the New Black) are set to join the franchise’s returning cast members.
Washington will voice a red sports car named Natalie Certain, which People Movies also debuted a first look image of (you can check out said image at the top of this page). Here’s what Washington told the outlet about her character:
“She is a super-smarty-pants statistician. She reminds of a statistical analyst on cable news or SportsCenter,” the actress says. “She knows everything there is to know about the ins and outs of statistics when it comes to racing.”
No word yet on the characters that Fillion and DeLaria will be voicing, but one can only assume they’ll be… cars.
The trio of newcomers will be joining the returning Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, Larry the Cable Guy, Tony Shalhoub, Katherine Helmond, Cheech Marin and Paul Dooley. Also new to the cast for Cars 3 are Armie Hammer and Cristela Alonzo. A full official trailer has yet to be released for the film, but you can still check out the announcement trailer, as well as a couple of extended look videos, like “Lightning Strikes” and “Next Generation.”
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician with her own plan to win, inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet, and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3 races into theaters on June 16, 2017.
