This morning a Captain America: Civil War themed cover for Entertainment Weekly debuted featuring a new look at Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther. Well, we’ve now got two new images featuring the character and some new information about the character’s role in the highly-anticipated film. Boseman revealed to EW that while sides will be chosen in the film, you can’t exactly be sure of where the character’s allegiance stands.
Civil War features Steve Rogers and Tony Stark going head to head due to the Sokovia Accords, a government mandate which is a result of the events of Age Of Ultron. So, how does T’Challa equate into the situation? According to Boseman, it’s due to his role in Wakanda.
Anthony and Joe Russo then went on to comment on the Black Panther’s suit and confirmed that it is indeed made of vibranium in the film stating that it’s a “weave of the strongest metal in this fictional universe” and that it is “not comparable to any other costumes in the universe”. Boseman added that “there a lot of things about that in the mythology that I think has a lot of potential in terms of the storytelling… It’s not just about being durable, it has the ability to absorb energy. It’s not just like you hit it and it doesn’t take it. It has the ability to absorb the attack of another person and repel or respond to that attack. That’s part of the power.” Some exciting stuff, right? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
