Channing Tatum Talks ‘Gambit’ & Denies ‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Appearance

Remember when Taylor Kitsch played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine?  Anybody? I stay awake at night trying to forget that atrocity. Gambit is one of my favorite my favorite X-Men, so when X-Men Origins: Wolverine sucked, I hoped somehow FOX Would fix their mistake. Then X-Men: Days of Future Past did just that, it erased the continuity of the original X-Men films.

In 2014 rumors were flying around that FOX was looking at Channing Tatum to play Gambit. At first I was a little nervous because I didn’t want the Step Up guy screwing Gambit up again. By the time it was officially announced  that Gambit was getting a solo film with Tatum attached my criticisms were settled by his performance in 22 Jump Street. My excitement had increased tenfold because now we have a decent actor and a solo Gambit film to look forward to.

Tatum would then start a hunt to find a director with many failures. Our EIC Umberto Gonzalez broke the scoop that Tatum tried to get Darren Aronofsky and Bennett Miller, but they both declined. The Search would then end with FOX signing Rupert Wyatt(Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes) as the Director. Now Tatum has finally spoke about what he thinks of his director during a Reddit AMA…

Tatum also shut down all rumors that he’s set to be in X-Men Apocalypse during the AMA saying…

“No ma’am, or sir. I definitely will not.” When asked if he’d make an appearance.

With all of Channing Tatums dedication in making an amazing film are you guys excited for Gambit? I know I am!

Gambit hits theaters October 7, 2016!
