Chris Pine Confirms Role in ‘Wonder Woman’

Actor Chris Pine (Star Trek) has confirmed what many of us already knew: he will be appearing in Wonder Woman as Steve Trevor, our titular hero’s main love interest. Pine was long rumored to be in contention for both the role of Trevor and that of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in Warner Bros.’ ever growing DC Extended Universe. Ultimately, Pine chose to stick with Wonder Woman and he appears very pleased with his decision.

I do not really know what I’m allowed to tell you. I’m super excited, of course, Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will perform, and we will shoot in film.

Gadot (Furious 7) will make her debut as the demi-god in next year’s highly anticipated Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice before getting her own solo film in 2017. Jenkins (Monster) replaces Michelle MacLaren as director and is now responsible for the first ever female-led superhero blockbuster in the MCU/DCEU age. It is that aspect that drew Pine to the project.

What excites me most is to work in a movie with a superhero woman. With a woman in the lead role. I am teamed with this intelligent, beautiful and strong woman to defeat the villains and save humanity.

Recent rumors have suggested that the villains of Wonder Woman will be fellow Greek gods Ares and Circe. Another unconfirmed report indicated that Ben Affleck’s Batman will also be making an appearance. If true, Pine’s character will certainly have his hands full when Wonder Woman finally hits theaters.
