In the latest branding tie-in to a major summer blockbuster, the movie theater chain, Cinepolis, revealed an ad that features Deadpool enjoying his own movie.
The ad in question is a 45 second commercial that features everyone’s favorite mercenary with the big mouth enjoying his own film in theaters. In it the character can be seen sitting in a theater trying in vain to put popcorn in his mouth that is blocked by his mask and fails in an attempt to drink his drink. The commercial plays footage from the film, Deadpool 2, cut in-between Wade’s laughter and futile attempts at obtaining nourishment and hydration. His fellow movie goers look on in increasing discomfort as his laughs become louder and the pile of popcorn around him increases. At the end the ad cuts to an image of popcorn and the theater’s logo.

Such bizarre, 4th wall breaking antics are not new to the Deadpool film franchise. The first film saw the character break the fourth wall numerous times throughout the movie with an advertising campaign that was rather tongue and cheek. This time around, it seems like the advertisers have gone all out to the point that even the official plot synopses is a joke. You can see it below:
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
Directed by David Leitch, the film stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Nathan Summers/Cable, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapcic as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and Karan Soni as Dopinder. Julian Dennison, Jack Kesy and Shioli Kutsuna join the cast in undisclosed roles.
Deadpool 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 18, 2018.
7 Comic Book Characters Who Have Lost An Eye
Everyone knows the famous expression “I can do that with one eye closed!” Well, for some people, it’s more than an expression — it’s a way of life. Everything from a paper airplane to a speck of dust can cause humans to lose an eye and sport an eye patch for the rest of their lives. Technology is improving to the point where glass eyes and prosthetics are looking more normal than ever before, and with google glasses who really cares how many eyes someone has as long as they are constantly ingesting information?
Comic book characters, even the helpless civilians, are used to bad things happening. Alien invasions or superhero wars seem to be a common occurrence in both the Marvel and DC Universe, but there’s something else that’s common too. It doesn’t matter what comic universe you look at, there is a character in every world who has lost an eye. At the end of the day, eye patches are too damn cool to only be used when a book features a pirate. Losing an eye may suck for these characters, but it usually boosts their aesthetic appeal and gives them a new emotional pain to latch onto as they move forward.
