Marvel’s brand new Freeform series Cloak & Dagger has explored a different side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe within the television realms. The series explores relevant social themes through the eyes of its two dual-protagonists in Tandy Bowen/Dagger and Tyrone Johnson/Cloak.
Cloak & Dagger has already hooked viewers into the story and with only three episodes left, Marvel fans may be surprised to see how the first season will end. In fact, fans must brace themselves for an emotional roller coaster based on showrunner Joe Pokaski’s comments.
Pokaski spoke with Collider about the series, and teased that next week’s episode will be emotionally stirring:
“Hopefully, if I do my job right, they’ll be wanting to watch Season 2. I think Episode 8 might break a lot of hearts. I don’t want to get into too much of the detail, but it’s part of the hero’s journey. As you start learning and understanding what destiny has in mind for you, that destiny knocks you on your ass. I think the audience should probably prepare to be knocked on their butts a little, in Episode 8.
Not only that, but he also teases that the season finale will also end with a post-credits scene much like the films of the MCU:
“I think there will be places where we’re leaving some stuff open, intentionally, but there’s also something tremendously definitive, in our post-credits sequence, that will help define some of the drive.”
What do you think of Cloak & Dagger so far? Are you excited to see how the first season concludes? Do you think there will be a season 2? Sound off in the comments below.
Here is the synopsis for this week’s episode of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, “Lotus Eaters”:
A mysterious man may be the key for Tandy to finally clear her father’s name. Unfortunately, getting the answers she needs will be difficult as the man has been in a catatonic state for almost a decade, but it might not be so impossible for two people with extraordinary powers. With Tyrone alongside to help, the two test their combined powers for the first time.
The show stars Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger, Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak, Gloria Reuben as Adina Johnson, Andrea Roth as Melissa Bowen, J.D. Evermore as Detective Connors, Miles Mussenden as Otis Johnson, Carl Lundstedt as Liam Walsh, Emma Lahana as Detective Brigid O’Reilly and Jaime Zevallos as Counselor Delgado.
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger airs Thursdays at 8/7c on Freeform.
10 Marvel & DC Villains Who Can Take Down Thanos
Thanos may have just taken down some of Marvel’s finest superheroes in Avengers: Infinity War, but he’s not the deadliest villain in comics. Both DC and Marvel are full of characters who are more powerful than the Mad Titan.
Admittedly, whenever Thanos is in possession of all six infinity stones he is the most powerful being in the universe, but anyone can harness that power if they successfully gather all the necessary components. If anything, Thanos is just incredibly patient and willing to wait to achieve his goals, a trait not many supervillains in DC or Marvel have. With the gauntlet, Thanos is essentially an immortal God who can snap his fingers and turn entire worlds to dust, but without it he’s just another villain who wants to rule the universe. He’s clearly a strong and terrifying guy, but if he were to face any of these villains without his Gauntlet, Thanos would be in big trouble.
