Colin Farrell’s Penguin gets a comic book-accurate look in a cool new concept design for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman universe.
Although it took a while for most fans to realize that Penguin actor Colin Farrell was actually in the first trailer for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman thanks to the incredible prosthetics he’s wearing, many are excited to see what he does with the villainous role. It’ll be interesting to see whether his look transitions into a more faithful version of the DC Comics character who’s caused havoc for Batman and Gotham City ever since his debut in 1941’s Detective Comics #58
A fan edit from digital artist ‘ihasankazi’ puts Colin Farrell’s Penguin in the villain’s classic costume for The Batman. The concept takes the brief shot of the Penguin from the trailer and gives him the top hat and monocle that have become synonymous with the character. The small look at Farrell in the sneak peek matches what the actor had previously revealed about his role in the film, as he noted he doesn’t have “much to do.” One neat little detail is the addition of a cigar, given how Oswald Cobblepot is usually depicted as a smoker. While it would be great to see a comic-accurate version of the Penguin in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, we’re confident Matt Reeves will find a great way of reinventing the infamous villain for a new era. Check out the artwork below.

Plot details for The Batman are being kept under lock and key, but we know that the project will revolve around Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector. The Batman will also feature the hero making use of his detective skills more than what we’ve seen before in previous iterations of the character. It is also expected to be the first installment to a new Batman trilogy with Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
