The upcoming X-Men spin-off, New Mutants, is set to be directed by The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone. The director has been updating fans with unique aspects of the movie’s preproduction for some time over on his official Twitter and Instagram account. The line up for the film has been hinted at heavily by Boone, who has said the movie will remain extremely close to the source material. Boone will be joined by (500) Days of Summer writers Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber, as well as Knate Lee. Early casting rumours for New Mutants hinted at Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane and Morgan star Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik.

According to Comingsoon.net, a source close to the production of the movie has revealed that the main antagonist will be none other than “the fan-favorite Demon Bear!” I know next to nothing about this character, or the story the movie is apparently adapting; New Mutants #3, the debut of the Demon Bear. The movie has been described  as “Stephen King meets John Hughes,” which makes me think of this year’s hit Netflix program Stranger Things. The website has also revealed that none other than Paper Towns‘ Nat Wolff is being looked at for one of the movie’s main roles in Cannonball. You may not remember, Wolff was one of the finalists to being cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, before losing out to Tom Holland.

According to the website, the movie is set to hit theatres everywhere in Spring of 2018. Below you can check out an animatic from the movie, by clicking on the concept art showing the heroes taking it to the Demon Bear!

What do you guys think of all this? Would you like to see Wolff lead the movie as Cannonball? And what do you make of the concept art? I personally cannot wait to see what Boone and co. have in store for us come 2018.

Just a young writer hoping to become an old writer. From the land Down Under; no, I don't know Jai Courtney.

The animatic looks impressive. It looks like Fox plans to give Kittie Pryde’s Lockheed to Magik, and I’m fine with that. This could be really great
