DC have unveiled the first trailer and release date for animated film Constantine: City of Demons featuring the return of Matt Ryan as the occultist.
The animated film will serve as the conclusion of the animated series that was on CW Seed earlier this year. The film brings back Matt Ryan, who had already previously starred as the character in live-action series Constantine, as the iconic mysticist and occultist. The film appears to be set for digital release as well as multiple Blu-ray options on October 9th. The film also happens to be Rated R for “bloody violence/gore, disturbing images, and some sexual content”, so it appears to be your run of the mill Constantine story.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:
A decade after a tragic mistake, family man Chas and occult detective John Constantine set out to cure Chas’s daughter Trish from a mysterious supernatural coma. With the help of the mysterious Nightmare Nurse, the influential Queen of Angels, and brutal Aztec God Mictlantecuhtli, the pair just might have a chance at outsmarting the demon Beroul to save Trish’s soul. In a world of shadows and dark magic, not everything is what it seems, and there’s always a price to pay. The path to redemption is never easy, and if Constantine is to succeed, he must navigate through the dark urban underbelly of Los Angeles, outwit the most cunning spawns of hell, and come face to face with arch-nemesis Nergal – all while battling his own inner demons!
Constantine: City of Demons stars Matt Ryan as the voice of John Constantine, Damian O’Hare as Chas Chandler, Laura Baily as Asa the Healer, and Emily O’Brien as Renee Chandler, among others.
10 DC Comics Characters That Need To Be In Matt Reeves’ Batman Movie
As one of the DC’s most popular heroes, Batman has starred in quite a few films. After Christopher Nolan wrapped up his Dark Knight trilogy, the character was quickly reintroduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and was a key player in Justice League. The Caped Crusader is set to return in his own movie, potentially titled The Batman, with Matt Reeves, the director of Cloverfield and the last two Planet of the Apes movies, behind the camera.
At the moment, nothing is known about the film’s plot or who will appear, but with Batman in the title role odds are other key DC characters will appear. So far, Batman’s corner of the DC Universe hasn’t been explored too much, so there are still a lot of characters who can be introduced on the big screen. Batman’s gonna need some villains to fight, and allies to fight beside, so Matt Reeves needs to search through the back-issues and figure out who he wants to include.
