From the cool and collected to the psychedelic misadventure of two friends, casinos and the surrounding perceived ambience and environment still continues to pull movie lovers to the big screen.
And to be honest, it isn’t that surprising as if you put together some great actors and situate them in an environment that is exciting in its definition you are sure to be in for a treat, something that many top Hollywood directors have recognised over the years.
Take as an example those two friends in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. With Johnny Depp playing Raulo Duke, a sports writer and his lawyer, Dir. Gonzo who is played by Benicio del Toro who travel to Las Vegas Bazooko Circus Casino where they then experiment with the different drugs on offer there. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas did not do so well at the box office but has since become an absolute cult classic and arguably one of the best roles Johnny Depp has ever done.
1998 also gave us Rounders besides Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but this time we follow a young gambler who actually gives up the casinos but then has to return to help his friend get out of some trouble with loan sharks who are after his skin.
Although Rounders does have those Hollywood touches the film does manage to give a realistic insight into that underground world of poker and Matt Damon who in real life enjoys to gamble plays the role of the young, reformed gambler. Edward Norton is in the role of Mikes friend and the movie was directed by John Dahl…simply brilliant.
For those that are in the glitz and glamour that James Bond brings to our screens then the remake of Casino Royale (2006) with Daniel Craig playing the new 007 is quite probably one of the best in the Bond series. Full of high-stake showdowns Casino Royale helped set the trend of Texas Hold’em Poker still one of the most popular poker games today. With terrorist organizations planning to raise money in poker games, the casino scenes in this movie are un-forgettable.
In fact, casino has been a popular theme for movies throughout the years, taking us all into a world of gambling, Mafia crime, deceit, betrayal and a veritable roller-coaster of emotions for us all.
Not only do we love to watch the films on our screens but we also love to play at online sites where we can enjoy the thrill and entertainment of many of the classic games as well as games such as slots pay by phone bill.
Slots are still proving to be one of the most popular games to try at an online casino and being able to pay for games using your phone bill means that you do not have to give any banking details to the site as the cost is simply added onto your monthly bill or taken from your pay-as-you-go account.
