Marvel’s hit Netflix series Daredevil has cast Jay Ali (The Fosters) as a series regular for the upcoming third season.
Ali’s character has been revealed as FBI Agent Rahul “Ray” Nadeem and officially described by Marvel as “an honest, but ambitious FBI agent willing to go to any length for his family.” In addition to the returning cast, Ali joins Daredevil newcomers Joanne Whalley and Wilson Bethel.
Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb released an official statement, expressing his excitement to have Ali board the series:
“We are thrilled to welcome Jay into our stellar cast. His storyline and riveting performance will captivate our fans in the third season of Marvel’s Daredevil.”
Showrunner Erik Olsen also released a statement, sharing how impressed he was with Ali based on his audition for the role:
“I love Jay Ali. It Isn’t easy to join a cast as talented as Marvel’s Daredevil – and Jay blew us all out of the water with his audition. His moving performance in Season 3 will show the world that he’s a star in the making.”
Daredevil Season 3 is currently in production on location in New York City. Details on the plot remain unknown, though the conclusion of The Defenders suggested that the next season could adapt the “Born Again” comic book storyline. The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix with Drew Goddard, Jim Chory, Olsen, and Loeb serving as executive producers.
The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. Hart of Dixie star Wilson Bethel has also joined as a series regular for the third season.
Daredevil Season 3 is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2018.
