‘Daredevil’ Season Two Showrunner Responds To Frank Miller’s Comments Regarding Elektra

Iconic comic writer & artist Frank Miller recently made some not-so-positive comments about the upcoming second season of Marvel & Netflix’s Daredevil. In particular he commented on the series incarnation of Elektra and how the character “is not her”. While Miller did create the character, he also hasn’t seen the second season of the hit Marvel television series, so it’s a bit weird that he would make a statement along those lines.

Entertainment Weekly recently caught up Doug Petrie, one of the showrunners for the second season of the series, and asked him about Miller’s comments regarding the new live-action incarnation of the character.

“God bless him, it’s his prerogative. I’m a huge fan of what he did, so the [criticism] doesn’t go both ways. I wouldn’t say, ‘What does Frank Miller know?’ I’m so inspired by him and what he achieved and I’m trying to take it further and enrich her. She’s an empowered woman with her own agency, she’s nobody’s victim.”

Good on him for keeping the response positive because some might not have taken that route. Here’s hoping that Miller at least gives the series a shot and maybe even digs what they do with the character. What do you think about Petrie’s comments? Looking forward to seeing Elektra pop up in season two of Daredevil when it hits Netflix in March? Sound off in the comments section below.
