Netflix’s Daredevil season one became an instant sucess. It combined quality character development with action sequences that looked just as impressive as what can be seen on the big-screen with comic book adaptations.
During a recent interview at the season two premiere, Daredevil stunt coordinator and second unit director Philip Silvera opened up how everything that is done with the show is in order to further and develop the story.
“All we ever want to do is continue to tell the stories that the writers are writing. We’re not doing extra gags for the sake of doing them, or longer fights for the sake of it, it’s what’s driving the story forward. That’s important to the action design of these characters. We have more characters with more designs, and more stories we’re telling, and it’s always unique to them.”
He also discussed wanting to top the iconic “hallway fight” scene from the first season. Look out for it in episode three of this upcoming season.
“Three has a great sequence, it’s different, almost like we’re paying homage to the hallway fight in season one, but it’s a totally different story, so it’s got its own base to go on. Then there are episodes down the line that I’m really excited for. Episode 9, Episode 11, I think every episode has great scenes, though.”
Promotion and hype continues around the second season. A new motion poster has just been released on the official Tumblr account for Daredevil with the caption, “Hell is waiting.”
Daredevil season 2 arrives on Netflix March 18.
