Empire Magazine has released a new image from the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower starring Idris Elba as The Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black.
The new image reveals The Gunslinger alongside Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor). Elba described the relationship between his character and the boy from our Earth as the “central heartbeat” to the magazine:
“The relationship is the central heartbeat. The worlds are huge and weird, and it’s a lot to take in if you haven’t got anything to bite onto.”
You can check out the new image of Elba and Taylor on the streets of New York City in the film below.
The film stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Katheryn Winnick, Jackie Earle Haley, Fran Kranz, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Michael Barbieri and Claudia Kim.
The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.
The Dark Tower hits theaters August 4, 2017.
